Aloha Mai Kakou Ko'u 'Ohana!
Rochelle Willis think we should meet before planning anything. She would like to address the idea of having other ohana members getting involved. I think she is right, we need to meet before planning anything. So cancel what I said earlier & we'll see what happens. We also need a place to meet & a date. Do we have any volunteers out there? Please email me!

Eliza Kahelelani Kahale Kamelamela Poaipuni
Aloha Mai Kakou!
This is a letter written to me by Awapuhi Kamelamela:
Aloha uncle Sanford! This is awapuhi, May Kamelamela's daughter. Mom wanted me to let you know that on March 25, 2011 we lost Eliza. She just made 55 on March 15. She left behind 4 daughters Alohalani (12), Hau'oli (9), Pomaika'i (6), Kahelelani (5), Mom, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. We are still grieving her loss. She lost her husband just under 3 years ago and although she tried to go on with her family, she had a hard time recovering from her loss of him. The funeral was held on Moloka'I at Kalanianaole Hall on Friday, April 8, 2011. Details were in the local papers in Hilo, Honolulu and Moloka"i. If there are any questions, mom said to give her a call @ 969-7017; home in Hilo. Mom thought that this would be another way of letting the other family members know and if they had remembered her and asked me to let you know to let everyone else know. Mahalo uncle for your time in this matter and malama pono a hui hou. Aloha Awapuhi Kamelamela~

Father of UH athlete Ostrowski dies
By Star-Advertiser staff
POSTED: 10:21 a.m. HST, Jan 26, 2011. Damian "Kui" Ostrowski, a former standout Maryknoll basketball player and the father of University of Hawaii basketball and football player Miah Ostrowski, died early this morning. He was 43. Ostrowski is survived by his wife, Michele, and children Miah, Raquel and Mia. Michele Ostrowski said her husband had a seizure and heart failure and wasn't able to be revived by doctors. He played on the 1984 Maryknoll team that won the state championship. Miah Ostrowski, a Punahou graduate, joined the UH basketball team in December. He recently took on a larger role on the team, becoming the backup point guard. Kui was overjoyed to see his son play at the Stan Sheriff Center, particularly last week, Michele said. UH plays Utah State on Saturday. Ostrowski had full participation in today's team practice and intends to play against the Aggies. Services are set on Satuday, Feb. 12 at Central Union Church. Visiting hours are from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with the service to follow. To donate to The Damian K. Ostrowski Memorial Fund, visit any Bank of Hawaii branch.
